Did you know that Lake Tahoe is recognized as one of
the deepest lakes in the United States. With an
maximum depth of 1645 ft. and a average deep of 1000
feet, the Panama Canal (700 feet in width and 50
feet in depth) could be filled by Lake Tahoe's water
and extend completely around the earth at the
equator. Practically everyone that visits will
always remember how incredibly blue the water is.
It's been several years since my last visit and I
can still recall just how clear and blue the water
was.
Lake Tahoe has 72 miles of shoreline and a visual
clarity to a depth of 100 feet and straddles the
borders of Nevada and California. With Reno to the
North, many visitors can try their luck at the many
casinos of the surrounding areas.
Sports enthusiasts are drawn to Lake Tahoe for the
many seasonal activities available. It doesn't
matter if your family is divided into several
different sports preferences. There is literally
something to do for everyone. Lake Tahoe offers so
many great places to hike, fish, boat and camp. For
skiers, there are many cross-country ski adventure
tours.
Planning a wedding or even thinking of eloping? No
worries... Lake Tahoe offers many great choices for
the bride and groom to be, too. Just search Google
for lake Tahoe weddings and you'll find everything
needed to have a memorable experience.
Have you ever been to a Shakespeare Festival? There
are many US destinations throughout the US where
these are held, complete with full period costumes
and activities. Lake Tahoe has it's own... The Lake
Tahoe Shakespeare Festival performs in an open-air
venue, on the east shore of Lake Tahoe. It's rather
laid back and lots of fun. Held during the middle of
July and ending in the middle of August, you'll need
to plan for this as tickets are sometimes sold out.
Productions include: The Taming of the Shrew and
Romeo and Juliet and as a special offering, they
usually include a notable production of some sort.
For the 2007 season it's Tuna. A hilarious depiction
of life in Tuna, a small Texas town.
