If you've been looking for a
unique vacation destination, consider renting a
vacation villa in the beautiful British Virgin
Islands. The BVI are located about 1500 hundred
miles from the US East Coast.
There are over 100 different islands that make up
the British Virgins. Tortola is the largest and
Anegada, Jost van Dyke, Virgin Gorda, Peter and
Norman Islands are the other larger islands. All of
them are absolute gems not to be missed... if you
have the time.
Personally, I stay away from the larger resorts and
opt for any of the awesome BVI vacation rentals.
If you have the time, I thinks it's best to move
around the islands if you can. There's really a lot
to see and the private homes and villas vary from
island to island. Generally you'll find mountainous
areas, lush and green with aqua blue water visible
from just about everywhere... with one exception.
It's the coral island of Anegada with a height above
sea level of 27'.
You'll appreciate the tight control the BVI
Government has over building. The islands offer many
modern conveniences while still keeping an old world
ambiance. It's very difficult to describe the beauty
of this island archipelago.
Hundreds and hundreds of boats, big & small, sail
and power, yachts of all sizes are everywhere and
stimulate your visual senses. If you are a boater or
diver, a British Virgin Island vacation should be in
your plans.
While there, I suggest hiring a local tour guide to
see some of the historic sites, gardens, beaches and
ruins. The views are famous and the pictures you
take will be a great reminder of this island
paradise.
Getting there can be a worthwhile chore. Generally
you'll have to fly into Puerto Rico and take a
flight from there or, fly into St. Thomas and take
one of the many ferries into Tortola. Hey, you're on
vacation and having a true vacation Paradise just a
few hours away is certainly worth it. |
